New York songbird, Skylark, began her career on the streets of Manhattan with American folk legend, Pete Seeger and The New York City Street Singers. Exposure to a variety of musicians and world rhythms was instrumental in creating her unique jazzy style. American standards are a staple in her repertoire and she also composes songs in the jazz tradition. Skylark has performed at such prestigious venues including Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors Festival, Summer Stage and Celebrate Brooklyn. She is an organizing member and performer with the annual September Concert for 9/11 and is a featured singer with pianist, Marjorie Eliot & Parlor Entertainment in Harlem. Whether singing with a full band or accompanied by a single musician, Skylark is about the song.
"Singing is prayer for me and rhythm is the soul of life. The whole universe revolves in rhythm. When I sing, my hope is that people are touched in a positive way, inspiring them to embrace their own uniqueness and light.
Music is love."
